The fact that this page on one semi‐important historical figure has undergone nearly 4500 edits tells you something is going on here. The edits show exactly what is going on.

This text:

Was changed to this:

At that time, there were growing concerns regarding child labor at factories.

I expect that sentence will eventually be removed entirely.

In the opening paragraph they first appended this:

Then they changed it to this:

Today, the consensus of researchers is that Frank was wrongly convicted and Jim Conley was likely the actual murderer.
