Homeschooling is great in that respect, but it's completely awful for denying kids the chance to play with a bunch of other kids a few times a day at recess. They also don't get as good a chance to learn directly from experience about dealing with assholes and standing up for themselves.

Siblings, church, sports, and scouts provide that and more, and usually with less horrible adults supervising things...

Team sports, my guy. Kids absolutely need three things to really flourish, based on what ancient wise men proclaimed: A study of art. A study of gymnastic. A study of knowledge.

Go with something like Piano, Soccer and a second language like Mandarin (literally increases IQ).

The 'Stupidity' of a Ban is always the same. WHY would a criminal CARE if his illegal act is 'banned'? WE all had our firearms in our cars AT school in the 70s, and NO ONE was ever shot. WHO. WHO WHO YES WHO IS doing the shooting?

Told a kid in school I had a paintball gun for sale and had the cops called on me. Somehow that turned into "there's a gun in my locker" lucky it was a small town. Police knew me well, principal knew me well. Sloppy search, they felt bad after i told them what I said.

That's a kid that grew up in a house without guns, and one who never handled a gun in his life. He's scared shitless of them because all he knows about them is what he sees in the movies and on TV. He probably thought you had an automatic 'assault weapon' with 100-round 'clips' ready to go off any second in your locker.
