They can’t flat out tell people to stop beaming the US military drones with lasers because the military is refusing to claim ownership of them. Instead they tell people to stop because they might hit a manned helicopter by mistake.

I suppose shooting at the drones could get you charged with reckless endangerment, but you could contend that the government said they might be Iranian and you were worried about the safety of everyone around you.
