Jimmy Kimmel may be officially back, but that doesn’t mean many people will realize it.

The embattled late-night comedian is facing a nationwide blackout at the hands of Nexstar, one of ABC’s biggest broadcasters, which announced on Tuesday that it plans to run alternative programming when Kimmel’s show returns tonight.

The decision follows an earlier one by Sinclair, which manages nearly 40 regional ABC affiliates and promised to keep Kimmel off the air in response to his allegation that Charlie Kirk’s assassin is a fan of President Donald Trump.

This is a feel good story but, I fear, not meaningful to overall ABC viewership. Looking at the Sinclair and Nexstar ABC stations list, the biggest markets are Salt Lake, Knoxville, St. Louis, and Seattle, but these are not typical. Most of their ABC stations are places like Harrisburg, PA, Grand Rapids, MI, and Tulsa, OK. Not big markets and probably didn't have much viewership in those markets anyway.

You probably couldn't give ad time away in those markets even before he stepped on his dick.

BUT, I am encouraged that someone (anyone) finally said, "Enough!" I'll take that as a win by itself.

The nexstar list just is biggest to smallest and includes NYC, LA, Chicago, Philly, DC,SF and Denver in their top 20.

There is no ABC affiliate station until you get down to #26 in Nashville.
