That's before sending him to an actual tank unit to gain experience and proficiency, which is going to take at least another 12-18 months of unit level training on that unit's METL.
But somehow, just giving the Ukes these tanks is supposed to just magically infuse them with instant capability? Like give your teenager the keys to the family car? They're just going to jump in, start them up, and go to war?
And even if they did, the Honeywell AGT1500 gas turbine engine consumes more than 60 US gallons (230 L) per hour when traveling cross-country. Is the Uke logistical system ready to support that?

Depending on what M1's they give them, all they'll be doing is going the long way around the barn to hand new capabilities and materials research over to the Russians.

If they want to get rid of old M1, why not continue to send them into Yemen? You don't need Russian high-tec to recycle them, barefoot Houthis with old Kornets can do that too.

The M1’s used to be given to NG and reserve units until at least the mid/late 90’s. We’d also have a motor pool by the rail yard for the above units who came without theirs and these things were beat to shit.
Have they been mothballed that entire time since 9/11, how could they still be operating after this whole time. I know we have strategic underground/warehouses staged around the world full of old and new shit but they’ve wasted money maintaining these dinosaurs this entire time?
Europe should have plenty. I saw these multi level “secret” underground storage facilities personally, they were amazing but also seemed stupid since the Russians would already know where they were and would’ve have taken them out immediately at a beginning of a conflict.
They were basically designed so every American based unit could fly into a nato country and be armed immediately without waiting for vehicle/supply loading and transport, just hop on a plane, land and grab you’re pre-stocked gear/vehicles and get right to war.
