It is the ethical position to take. In Europe especially; a flood of doctors with questionable medical degrees from the middle east, Africa and the Indian subcontinent has had the following implications:

  • doctors with sub standard training, even fraudulent medical degrees or degrees obtained through bribery.

  • a drain of medical practitioners from developing nations with already poor standards of healthcare.

  • an obviating of native students to train for their own medical degrees based on the cost analysis of training internally vs importing externally.

For all these reasons and more it is only morally correct that Swedes should insist on ethnically Swedish born and trained medical practitioners.

Such discrimination is rational and justified. I much prefer to have a white man as my doctor, as opposed to some refugee from the Middle East who can't speak my language clearly enough for me to understand what he's saying. Who knows where he got his medical degree, or how much he cheated to get it?
