They should look at the blood vessels too, there is a similar problem of neutrophils (leukocytes) moving to the sites of inflammation (causing blood clotting). In India, they use colchicine to fix that ("this is an easy disease to treat"):

Be extremely careful with this drug, you may only need a 1/4 if your healthy my doctor gave me some for a rapid heart rate and said only take a 1/4, I forgot and took a full one and ended up in the hospital with a heart rate of 10 bpm until the drug wire off.
