tbf many pipes are lead and it doesnt matter. after the flint water crisis i learnt that the reason that was such a shit show was because they fucked with the PH of the water. what ususally happens is there is small amount of calcium in the water which over time deposits on the inside of the pipes, least that is what is supposed to happen. when the pH gets out of the proper range it will strip that calcium layer from the inside of the pipe exposing the lead and then causing it to rust and enter the water. so even if you have lead pipes it wont affect you unless your city decides to save a few cents on water and switches your water source
