Don't get shitty electric car with no range, don't get shitty gas car with expensive fuel. Get a PHEV and you have both.
My combined electric/gas cost for the last two years has been about $200. It works out to 3 cents per mile. If your car gets 30 mpg, it's the equivalent of paying 90 cents for a gallon of gas.
