Garage doors have a detector that stops the door from coming down if you walk through it. It's to prevent people from being crushed, and also for shit like this.

I think you'd be surprised by how many eyes are bypassed and how many doors are old enough they don't even have them. The fact that this is one of those solid fold down doors I'd bet it's pretty old since I've never seen one of those on a house built in the last 20 years.
You mean those two sensors that go on either side that are impossible to line up when you are installing the garage door opener and you finally say fuck it and tape them together with black tape with the sensors facing each other because I've fucked with this bullshit for like that last 45 minutes and said fuck it? Some, not all., and if either end of the light senor is nudged even just slightly they won't detect the beam and stepping through them won't trigger the stop. So that's not nearly enough to call this into question.
you can mount those beams anywhere. if you put them close so theyre always in contact youre garage will always close. you can also use the beams and mount them outside your driveway or whatever alert you
