The Book of Revelation in the New Testament has the title, the "Apocalypse of John." Apocalypse has come to be used popularly as a synonym for catastrophe, but the word means revelation. That which is uncovered. It comes from the Greek word which literally means to pull the lid off something. Why did Albert Pike refer to Saint John the Baptist as the favorite apostle? Well, “John the Baptist” wasn’t an apostle, so there’s that. “John the Baptist” was also beheaded half a century before the book of Revelation was written.
