I still have my Red Ryder. Yes, I have been hit by BB's bouncing off the objects that I was shooting at, usually trees. Crazy thing is that my sons went to Boy Scout Camp (back before the scouts went gay) and they went to shoot BB rifles and the backstop was a sheet of plywood. Fortunately, the boys were mandated to wear safety glasses. Many of the boys got BB stings and none of the parents thought anything of it. We were one of the last groups to shoot but I seen sheets of cardboard leaning against a tree and explained that the cardboard was to be hung in front of the plywood. The other parents looked at me with amazement. Go figure.
