I wonder how a nigger father would have reacted...no wait!
I am well known for my slow reaction time and general clumsiness. I was always picked last for teams in elementary school etc etc.
When our kids were young we were on holiday and took a tour into a caving system. During the tour my 4 YO son stepped off the path and began to slide over an edge into the darkness. The second I heard his little feet start to scrabble on the uneven, loose surface but before I even had a chance to think about it my hand shot out into the gloom and grabbed his collar.
He might have fallen 2 feet or 100, we have no idea. But I'm happy to say that at least we didn't have to find out.
I'm still a miserably uncoordinated fuck, but that time when I needed it it was there.

You're a great father. I'm so grateful I wasn't drinking alcohol as the 15 year old I was when my young toddler brother fell into the pool at a family gathering. Being his big brother I always observed him and when he swan dived in and started drowning I just dived in yelled for help and carried him to the ladder exit. Thankfully he didn't need attention or CPR and wasn't injured.
