I used to get other people's mail, and a lot of it. All kinds of stuff. Credit cards, bank statements, Social Security checks (when those were a thing.) Tried to get what was important to the people it was addressed to, and complained constantly to the post office.
Last time I was in the PO, there was a lady there I'd never seen before. She said that I wasn't the first person she'd talked to today about this, that she would tell the postmaster but the diversity hire wasn't there. This was after a previous encounter with another temp that told me this was the worst station he'd ever worked at.
Now, it all goes in the trash. I don't care. I don't get a paycheck from the post office, and people don't get their mail.
Our usual UPS driver is a diversity hire and she's the laziest negress imaginable.
If she sees me outside she expects me to walk to her truck to take the packages.
We constantly get deliveries for neighbors. I watched her drop off a package on my front steps that I knew wasn't for us (we don't shop at Chewy). When I walked out to give it back to her (as she strolled back to the truck) she had the gall to ask me if I could bring it to my neighbor. I told her I didn't even know where the street in question was and handed the box back to her.
As far as I'm concerned, that's trash can fodder. I don't open them, I just toss them.
US Mail, yes. Packages for neighbors I try to be considerate of.
