Tough, tough men.
My grandfather was one.

Originally 5/SS and then transferred as cadre for the formation of 11/SS? Aside: have you heard of a book titled: Wenn Alle Bruder Schweigen.
It's a very hard book to find. My grandfather told me lots of stories and I'm sure some of this book inspired him. I was young when he died so our conversations were when I was under 10 for the most part but this rings a bell.
"When all the Brothers are Sleeping" A translation from the German. A collection of private photos from the former members of the SS. I paid 54$ in 1985. I hope you find one. I have several of the "Then and Now" Books as well. The sheer level of violence and loss in WWII is hard to even conceive now.
