It's definitely keeping me in my current job. Three days WFH, two "as needed" which is usually just a half day if anything. Is an extra $10k year worth the hassle of a 5 day a week commute. Not for me it's not.
I'd have to be looking at a doubling of my salary to go back in the office full time. It's just not needed for IT work.
An extra 10k/yr to commute is a wash if you have to commute more than maybe 3-5 miles depending on where you live. You have to take every single thing into account. Loss of freedom/flexibility, vehicle maintenance and fuel (company does not pay for), loss of time (company does not pay for). Stress, eating out if you forgot or didn't bring a meal with you, unable to go to a near by doctor if you have an appointment without now taking half a day off as PTO... etc...
Screw them. I am willing to take a little lower pay to gain everything else back. It is worth far more to me than what will basically be a wash and taxed away anyway.
