There was a large protest in my Canadian city as well. Pretty much the entire downtown core was taken over by the demonstration.

Whats the end goal of what these truckers are trying to achieve?

Make more noise than the media. An effective strategy. Those horns carry and just one trucker conveys the support of thousands. Also, given that they are the people that essentially keep the system moving gives them a lot of power to shut it all down.
