From the post:

>A volcano in the Pacific Northwest is showing signs of re-awakening. The Axial Seamount is a mile-wide underwater volcano that sits 300 miles off the coast of Oregon and more than 4,900 feet below the surface of the Pacific Ocean. Researchers with the National Science Foundation's Ocean Observatories Initiative have been monitoring this inevitable underwater explosion and now say that the volcano is swelling up like a balloon full of lava. According to William Chadwick, a volcanologist and research professor at Oregon State University, the Axial Seamount acts a lot like the volcanoes in Hawaii and is set to spew out over a billion cubic feet of 'very fluid lava' weighing millions of tons at any moment.

Undersea volcanoes are the most benign, it's how new land has been formed billions of years.

Possibly triggering thousands of earthquakes.

I saw a few years ago might have been here I found the link. A college professor was saying how in Oregon there are places with lava from multiple eruptions that have 2 miles of lava built up over 2 million years. Where a 1/2 mile of it is built up on top of a 1/4 mile of lava. The guy was standing where the layers in a canyon were exposed raw showing all the layers and he said when you did down to get samples still lava but not the same lava. We could be seeing portland and other areas just gone and buried if history is to repeart itself.
