Wolfspeed is what's left of Cree after they sold their lighting division. They worked with relatively old school silicon carbide semiconductors in new ways, trying to supply the EV and high-power electricity industries.

Kinda crazy they are filing for bankruptcy. They were at the forefront of LED stuff for a long time. Why would they sell their lighting division? They had to have been worth a pile of money just on patent licensing alone.

LED bulbs became a commodity item, and got cremated by China.

They specialize in N-type SiC substrate material, and that's been in a price war for some time.
