Kroger is constantly adjusting the number of stores it has...more than likely these are low-performing (aka niggers) or stores that follow their old, tiny format.

Author also forgets that Kroger is a massive behemoth. I'm sure shrink in high theft markets like the west coast impacts their stores, but their markup is so extreme that I doubt most stores have a big issue turning s profit
