It's growing longer, globally. Earth's nearly a decade into it's thirty year cooling period. This should affect crop output positively.
Living in Southern Australia, I can confirm that the climate of late has been growing increasingly cold. Autumn arriving earlier, Spring later, cold wet summers (max temps as low as 12C this year with snow on nearby mountains in December).
Remains to be seen how much of the recent few years were due to the prolonged Na Lina. Now that the SOI is trending towards El Nino this year we might have a hope of a reasonable season. Last year was terrible, garlic >50% reduced (lost due to excess rain causing mold and rotting), tomatoes >75% reduced (due to cold and rain), pumpkins 100% reduced (not a single pumpkin was harvested this year, typically I would harvest more than 20), zucchini >75% reduced (cold and wet effected fruit setting and growth).
We're headed into a cold phase for the next 30 years or so, so I'll need to figure this stuff out. Just finishing off my greenhouse, so hopefully that will aide in the coming years.
