Yep sloe Gin liqueur is definitely one of those specialty ingredients. It probably has red 40 in it anyway though.

1 Oz sloe gin liqueur
1 Oz Gin
3/4 Oz lemon juice
2 teaspoons simple syrup
Club soda

Combine all ingredients except soda in shaker, shake vigorously, and strain into a high ball glass full of ice. Pour soda over top, stir, and garnish with a lemon wedge. Serve with a plastic straw to remind everyone that 90% of the ocean's plastic waste comes from Africa and China.

I'm told Sloe Gin liqueurs vary greatly in flavor and sweetness, so you might have to play around with the sloe/sugar ratios.
