Funny enough I have had cachaca for a long time. I had a Brazilian friend in college and we made caipirinhas a bunch. Cachaca smells like tequila. I did make one with my sotol as well and it was a little better IMO.
Ginger liqueur does a good job masking the offensive tequila-taste. Quick little drink that gets better as the ice melts.
