If you ever come up with an invention that does something like make a car run on water, produce zero point energy, or over unity, anti gravity or anything else that would be world changing, don't try to patent it, don't try to market it and get rich, you will die of a "heart attack" or "car accident" and then your property will be burglarized, leaving behind everything of value except your designs and prototypes.
Your best bet is to very quietly make copies and tell trusted people, then give it away for free to the masses. If anyone approaches you about it, tell them they're too late, you have given away the design/process, over 100 people have it, and if anything happens to you, they will each give it out to over 100 people, who will do the same.
Better to change the world for the benefit of all than to try and get rich off of something that will get you killed and the tech will never see the light of day.
Yep, totes give it away for free and put all the scesmatics / technical details online etc.
So many accounts of dudes have the next best innovative breakthrough etc thta just seems to disappear from view after announcement.
Reminds me back in late 80's early 90's a NZ guy had what he claimed was a breakthrough in car battery technologically - was on the national news etc, i can not recall the actual specifics i was a bout 15 or some such - from memory something about the battery would never need to be recharged under normal operating conditions and able to be made smaller and for less cost - distinctly recall the guy saying he was in talks and close to signing a major distribution deal with Ford Motors NZ (before they closed down and moved offshore) and expected them to be on sale within the next 12 months or so. Zip. Clearly he signed away all the IP or similar and then got shafted by 'manufacturing delays and distribution issues etc' until they just tell him it's 'not profitable for us to pursue in the long term and btw we own all the rights - you only own a percentage of royalties on future sale'.
In this day and age.. They will already be in any system you have access to if they think you are making something they want. No one will ever know if you make a breakthrough you will just end up a missing person one day and some "burglars" will show up with a u-haul and remove everything at 2 am.
Air gaped systems and Faraday cages exist for a reason.
There is also a ton of research on getting data from air gaped systems and not many people have the time/money/space to build a proper faraday cage. You can't just have one big one, you need multiple layers.
