washed chicken in cold water and salt


table spoon of soy sauce

2 table spoons unsalted real butter or more if you're a fatty like me

2-3 table spoons of real maple syrup spread over skin after seasoning

lightly seasoned chicken with: seasoning salt, onion powder, pepper, salt

lightly seasoned onions, broccoli, carrots and russet potatoes with garlic powder

fill pot with 2/3 inch of water


Cook for 2.5 hours at 330f (lower medium temp in cast iron) with lid off

baste every 45mins-1hr with whatever you have, I use a spoon


save chicken broth for stew or soup later

We do this a lot and the chicken is much more moist and cooks perfectly.

I love cast iron cooking. The best is at a campsite.
