The article says that it might be a reference to the forbidden fruit that Adam and Eve ate; except the Bible doesn't specify what fruit it is. The guy that wrote that article should have checked his source; in the case, the Bible.

The logo is the apple from the garden of eden after Eve convinced Adam to take a bite. With Apple like Adam, you gain access to the knowledge, but you pay the same heavy cost. Edit: Apple is the snake by the way, not the Apple.
