Twatter source: https://mobile.twitter.com/Servelan/status/1014271033577111553
I was about to post that the original tweet was modified. Thanks for putting the link up. NBC did not call them white. Even Jews know better than to call taco benders white.
So, I went to the Servelan tweet and NBCs tweet to search for archived snapshots of the old version, saying 3 white males. Unfortunately, nothing there (mobile twitter or normal urls). Then I noticed NBC's website has a naming format for urls where each word in the headline is in the url, separated by hyphens.
So I modified the url (changing suspects to three-white-male-suspects) and looked at this url for archived snapshots:
found nothing
BUT
Click the link. Instead of 'page not found' like you would expect if you made up a url, it redirects to...
The new version of the article!
BUT, apparently NBCs url naming formula will redirect to the correct article if you put anything between the first and last words of the title. So https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/nationwide-PUTWHATEVERYOUWANTHERE-teens-n888716?cid=sm_npd_nn_tw_ma also directs to the same article.
In other words, I've found no evidence that this is real, even though I want to believe the twatterer. The lesson here: If you see something fucky enough that you want to take a screenshot, ALSO ARCHIVE IT.
NBC did not call them white.
They did, but fixed it when called out by Servelan.
