I never used it. I used one competitor called "Delphi" and a few local bbs'

Also used Prodigy, the real old custom graphical one. I have to say I miss that one.

I had an account on GEnie in the early 90s, it was the easiest way to get a real email address at the time. Having a local access number with no long-distance charges also helped.

All I know about that is Compuserve was the early online service all the techy cool people with a little money (it was more expensive than prodigy, etc) had. Even Rush Limbaugh used it back in the day.

They helped pioneer a lot of things, including online shopping. Kind of wish I'd been old enough to have an account, having a .com email is some serious geek cred.
