This is the kind of stuff that always fascinated me. I have been messing around with the EightyOne ZX81 (and others) system emulator for the past few days and I wish I had one of these when I was a kid. I started on a Commodore VIC 20 and went straight to IBM PC XT so I never got a chance to mess around with the Sinclair Timex stuff.
