Love those things, I have a 3 1/2 hp Fairbanks Morse. Always wanted to build a line shaft shop. When the lights go out a good thing to have since it’ll run on wood gas.

I can't put my finger on it, but something seems just sort of "wrong" with this device. Did you see it running at all? What kinda specs?

It had been running for a while. It's an air-start, compressed gas powered engine. Can't remember the specs on it.

"Hit n miss" - what, a single-cylinder 4-stroke?

Typically these were four stroke, but some two-stroke versions exist. They don't fire if the speed is above a certain RPM.
