Rocking it old-school because my 5/16 bit only went 3-1/4" deep, and I've already been to the hardware store 6 gorillion times this month.

Not sure how you check bit sharpness - centerpoint and cutting edge are pointy, but it didn't seem to generate shavings like I remember. Was going through 4-3/4" of vintage CCA treated lumber, so maybe I should cut it some slack. Get to break out a plane tomorrow - not sure if I remember how to plug one in...
