Ain't it da truth. The number of idiots posting their 'special' photographs on the Internet and then acting all butthurt when people tell them it's nothing special is truly laughable. They have no idea about composition let alone the intricacies of the exposure which their smartphone or fancy DLSR handles -- very well I might add -- for them. It really is the Point And Click generation.
IMO if you just put a sentence into DALL-E and it made a picture, that's not art "you made".
Thing is, it's rare DALL-E creates something spectacular or useful simply using that method. Instead you have to manipulate the image and then feed it back through the AI to have it correct or add detail, and do this over and over until you've got it the way you want. There've been some amazing results posted on plebbit (check r/stablediffusion) that I would definitely call art.
I see the art in the coding of the ai and version. Like the overall quality of what it produces. In some ways it's like star trek transporter tech that can create anything. Show me nightmare pizza space boogaloo type shit mang. spookers. But I'll be interested how the tech evolves and the quality. Imagine writing entire comics with just a few descriptors into an ai. It's interesting as hell if you extrapolate it even to 4 thoughts in 4 frames. That seems like something we should already see. and a logical next step.
