Dude. Stop. What they are doing is a choice. They are either fake and just taking handouts or severely mentally ill and your contribution will only be to further their delusions. Every few months our mayor here locally wipes out the tent encampments where dozens of human trash congregate and guess what they ALWAYS find. Tens of thousands of needles. Like an obscene amount of used needles. All these fuckers do with your money is buy dope. All those fuckers do all day is shoot up dope and fuck their disgusting tramp dope whores, in a tent, beyond the bushes. You want to help? Offer them food, then pay attention if they eat it. If they do, sweet, you've helped your fellow man. If they get all pissy and refuse food or drink and want money, well that should tell you what you need to know.
Some of these people are truly mentally ill. They are not all hippy dope fiends.

I mean I get it, and occasionally you'll come across one that seems really cool and down to earth because of course, you can't blanket label an entire group of people, there's always a handful of good in a possible sea of bad, but it's still a choice. I would be much more generous if I felt my handout was going to go to something that would get them out of their situation, but they rarely do want out. They have accepted their fate, sad, but it is what it is. And if I'm not buying myself drugs I can assure you I'm not buying some strangers
