F. This place saved my bacon on a project many years ago, they had the outdated connectors I needed for a point of sale system.

F. This news sucks. I was fortunate enough to live near one, and it more than filled the void that Radio Shack left in my heart.

yeah it sucks but everything is being geared towards online business so the day that a "carrington event" happen on our watch then there wont be anymore amazon and the like for quite awhile

the question is not IF but a WHEN

by the way, there's a cosmic event coming that will be far worse than a carrington event. that day the sun and the stars will cease to shine by at least a 1/3

With online ordering, etc, it stands to reason. However, for nostalgia reasons it makes me sad. And with the loss of nearby retail stores it's somewhat inconvenient if one has an immediate need for a component.

nostalgia can be a hell of a drug...just kidding, yeah amazon and walmart has killed the retail mom and pop type businesses. just the other day i ordered a humidifier and it arrived the same day from amazon

yes its our own fault for this to be happening. convenience is also a hell of a drug lmao

Its been well over a decade since I've been to Fry's, but yeah... the memories make me sad. I remember when I was a teenager in ~2005 going there with my family, and we spent hours walking around the store looking at everything.

Not surprised. I stopped shopping there almost 20 yrs ago. Cant count the number of times that place burned me by repackaging returned shit and reselling it. Then only letting me return it for the lowest value it was ever on sale for. Fuck Fry's.

Radio Shack and Fry’s Electronics were great for projects.
