Google just toughened, finally, the permissions apps are allowed. I noticed that minutes before I read the linked story. The biggest problem is that newly designed nefarious apps will still be allowed on the store, be installed by whoever was excited by it, and download crap in the background unless all side-loading is turned off, which it is by default. Even with side-loading off the yet-to-come rogue apps will likely still slow things down. Google needs more real people to test new apps and not just AI that's as dumb as a box of rocks.
