I don’t like this but it has an interesting up side. Could it perhaps make it harder for feds to frame you for child porn as it would provide a paper trail for the photographs?

Wouldn't the feds just upload the child porn to your phone and then let apple flag it?

Yes, but apple would scan it and flag it probably while all the associated phone metadata was intact which would make it much harder to hide their tracks. Without scanning, the feds could drop something on there and no telling when it actually showed up
