I know. Look, not my culture, not my call, but if I had to teach 1 billion peasants to write, I'd simplify it too. And it's easier to type something simpler. Perhaps it is part of commie subversion, changing the language, but the engineer in me likes it.

Sometimes it boils down to the fact that some cultures are just better than others, and the lesser cultures should be scrapped.

It's not romantic, it's just practical. But to your point, it's up to those who own the culture to decide on that. Sounds like Cambodia's youth is doing just that.
