Back before you kids were born there was a lawsuit about something similar to this.... now who was it again... micro... something... and found guilty of erm.... something trust....

Oh yes thats right

Microsoft getting done for antitrust for making it difficult to use any other browser than explorer.

I thought something was wrong when I was running an application the other day that opened up Edge instead of, hilariously, old school Internet Explorer, like it was supposed to. (The database I was accessing only works on IE).

When Microsoft decided to use Chromium for Edge, it no longer mattered which browser was used. 99% of the sheep are now using Jewgle browsers sharing all that telemetry data with Microsoft, anyway.

No way, Microsoft doing something against the consumer ?

ye yes, sarcasm

GASP! Windows 8, 10, or 11 being full of corporate malware that spies on you, turns you into the product (even after you paid for the supposed product), stealth installs even more nasties via the 'kb' updates, and attempts to get all control-freaky on your ass?! GASP! So ya telling me all that ain't actually a selling point for MS fanboys, ever eager for the next rendition? GASP! Who would of thunk it?!!!

Microsoft has never been about choice. They've always been about control.

This same bullshit is what broke the stock market back in 2000. Now it looks like they're going to be able to get away with it.

They were convicted for doing exactly this well before the 00's

They've been doing this since 1995 with Netscape Navigator, Opera, and Mozilla.

Of course, to be fair, Opera claimed their low usage rates were because of Microsoft, but the reality was that their browser just kinda sucked. People didn't use opera because any one of the alternatives was better.

Their situation was actually competition done correctly, which muddied the waters during the browser wars.

I can't speak for earlier versions of Opera but around version 12 or so before they switched engines to webkit it was the best most feature rich browser around.

So microshits just baked explorer into the gui.

Back then pretty much all browsers were shit anyway but that was pretty much the birth.

For some inexplicable reason, the retards at Microsoft decided to reuse IE as part of their file explorer system. Hence to delete IE was to delete everything that required an active window session or adorner, so really all applications in the entire OS would have broken

Why are people still using Windows? Install Debian or Ubuntu and decouple from the slave grid.
