I'm not updating my windows OS ever. I'm still using windows 7. I'm gradually switching over to Linux.

Doesn’t matter much when the intel management framework for your processor gives the federal government back door access.

ARM, AMD, and apple is making their own CPU now.

I have to chime in.

Normally, apple is extremely cucked. However, the extreme leftist aka Marcan porting Linux to the Apple M1 architecture (which is really just ARM on a custom chipset) -- has talked about this specific architecture not having these same remote-management engine capabilities a la intel ME -- due to physical limitations.

And yeah. If you're running Artix Linux or Hardened Gentoo or WHATEVER -- you're running x86_64? AMD64? however you choose to identify it? Cool beans, your computer is at constant risk of remote privilege access REGARDLESS of your OS -- that's right, Ubuntu, Arch, Gentoo, FreeBSD, OpenBSD even -- you're fucked. Your CPU executes code at far greater levels of permission than anything a software patch can fix. Couple that with internet-aware firmware, and again, like I said -- you're fucked. Don't connect machines to computers. Use dedicated systems for web browsing. These are basic steps, people.

Btw, DaddyX, you're right, most people won't run Windows on a server, but like you mentioned, if they're running this most common desktop architecture, it doesn't matter what OS they're using. These are malware that use extremely low-level code and cleverly disguised assembly to do what they do. So I really hate when people take it to the OS level. It really does come down to your chipset and CPU and the I/O when accounting for computer security. But if you're connecting a "secure system" to the internet, that is an inherently insecure operation.

Good for them. 90% of current PCs have an intel processor.

AMD also has a "backdoor" management engine. I cant remember the name but its just as invasive.

just like me, , , moving to Mint

One of my computers was upgraded to Windows 11 over a month ago.

My CC info was not asked for, once.

You guys will believe anything.

[–] 4 pts

I don't believe you.

And I don't believe greentext from 4Chan because it doesn't state that in the link he posted:

https://blogs.windows.com/windows-insider/2022/03/02/announcing-windows-11-insider-preview-build-22567/

Interesting, right?

I used a dummy spam Microsoft account that I've had for years to install Windows 11. Not a single prompt for a CC. No a single financial transaction tied to that spam dummy account.

People on 4Chan do this. They get bored for some reason and create fake controversy to get people whipped up into a frenzy. Because they think it is hilarious. That or it's a psyop anti-MS campaign from an MS competitor.

It's the same mentality as people who watch the "news" every night and then have no emotional connection when those fairytales / stories have to be corrected for being false.

We've been conditioned and lulled to sleep mentally because it appeals to humans laziness. The lazier the person is physically the lazier they'll also be mentally. Keep them seated, not building muscle, hypnotized to flashing lights, absorbing whatever you tell them.... there's a reason it's always been known as the "idiot box" because that's what it is and it's what it makes/creates.

4 Chan and Reddit users are the kids who used short buses in school

MS doesn't have competitors, retard. It's a monopolist.

Link provided: https://blogs.windows.com/windows-insider/2022/03/02/announcing-windows-11-insider-preview-build-22567/

Text provided as proof:

Windows 11 installer asks your credit card info and there is a field on the screen where you should input it while installing an OS. Microsoft considers the additional credit-card info as part of the subscription option it added last month. Now, if your subscription risks falling through because of an expired credit card, Microsoft will alert you.

Text doesn't exist in said link. Ctrl+f and "credit" returns no results, either.

So .. wtf are they talking about? I don't doubt Microsoft would pull something shitty like this, but providing nonsense like this as "proof" doesn't cut it.

Also this sounds like a preview, not the final release.

I had no choice to get win 11 when getting a new system. I have yet to to be pestered for CC info. The worst thing thus far is taking the time to not agree to their ad settings, a sign of the times when OSs these days go out of their way with their advertisement settings.... there shouldn't even be advertisement settings.

My biggest annoyance that many games I play will either crash or blue screen for no reason.

Just use Debian stable, ffs. If you can't use Linux you shouldn't be on a computer.

Maybe it's time to grow up and switch to Linux. "But that's complicated,, windows is easier, waaaaah!" WRONG. That's nothing but an outdated boomer meme from back when Linux wasn't as user friendly and windows was 10 times simpler. Quit being willfully ignorant and just do it. (Get one of the noob distros and not Arch, that's for autists) I guarantee you will find that it is dramatically easier than navigating the labyrinthian nonsense of any version of windows after 7.

I've been using Linux for about 4 years now. I will not switch to Windows 11. I have a windows 10 laptop that I run Linux from on an external msata drive. If I happen to need windows, I boot to windows, if not, I run Linux. Microsoft are the evil overlords and I refuse to give them my data. Windows gave free computers to the schools to get children proficient on windows and ignorant on all other systems. corporations use windows because everyone is familiar with it. I still use openVMS at work. It's UNIX based and Linux is "Like UNIX" . Don't get/stay in the Windows world of dummies. migrate away from it and you will never run Windows again.

This is not true. I was going to downvote it as spam, but no, more people need to realize that this is false so I commented this instead. I have upgraded 2 computers I own and installed ubuntu on the third that isn't compatible. No big deal.

Manjaro, fuck windoze, i havent used it since 2012. Win 7 was when i left.

That's what windows users deserve

All the more reason not to move forward with Win 11 on my next upgrade.
