Ok, let me get this straight. Brendan Eich, the guy behind Brave, thinks that Gab is a "parasite" for forking their browser, hates that Gab uses centralized systems instead of decentralized systems, and gets salty about Gab questioning BAT? Ok then...
Quite unfortunate that the folks at Brave would disappoint me like this...
I think he initially wanted to point out their overly braggadocios post exclaiming that they copied code from one folder to another folder. But then he had to justify his attack and it became personal in regards to what the goals of Brave are vs the goals of Gab. The irony is that their goals are mostly aligned.
But yeah, the idea of sideloading a extension because clicking install in github vs the firefox add-on store is too hard is kind of silly.
In my view, Brave is just a quick money making scam, and the fact that it's a Chromium fork turned me off.
>Oh yeah, let's fight against Google by relying on something that is developed by Google.
Gab is just proprietary garbage like Twitter, nothing on its platform is open source.
This is why I still use firefox. It sucks as a developer because of how far down the list it is in user share.
But adding user share to google browsers just means google gets to define what standards work in the browser to fit their profit interest. Use IE before chrome if you have any interest in fighting the largest tech monopoly.
I also use firefox, just with modifications like removing pocket and telemetry.
And yeah, that's the point I was trying to convey.
