Yes. That this aircraft will probably see 80+ years of service before it's out of the skies is simply amazing.

Not going to do that today, Airbus can't even make one for 20 years.

That was when riding an aircraft was an experience. (And probably cost quite a bit comparatively.)

I first flew when it was a $99 round trip to Chicago. Did more than a few weekend turnarounds there just because.

Now Boeing makes planes that can barely fly, crash into the ground, and cheapening out on materials and construction. Remember when Boeing could self certify planes because they were that reliable? Pepperidge farm remembers

Boeing went from being an Engineering firm with a sales-office, to being a Marketing-firm with an engineering division.

They make their money on defense projects. I can't see how aircraft contributes to the bottom line these days.
