I searched for "build your own submarine" on youtube and found this.

Well at least they have the merit to have done it, but well, they died

I mean yeah, it's somewhat retarded but indiana jones would have looked retarded too if he stupidly fell to the ground and the giant ball rolled all over him, the end

That's life, you have successful adventurers and you have the less successful... It's like that, it's par for the course

if a rich person spends money to go on an african safari, then dies, they are an idiot.

it's one thing to test your limits, it's another to pay money for a luxury experience.

>if a rich person spends money to go on an african safari, then dies, they are an idiot.

No he isn't an idiot, he took risks and died, hunting in africa isn't necessarily the safest activity in the world that's all

It's like that, look https://youtu.be/UrAUggWr-ak?t=54

You survive you're a legend, you die you are the idiot of the century... See what I mean?

People tend to admire success stories, now failure stories... Much less.

Imagine building something that the only safety margin and back up is -'4 days of oxygen and a couple of spare blue tooth controllers' .

These idiots seemed not to have even bothered with an underwater locator beacon - or any type of emergency retractable sonar boom to send and receive low frequency morse communications or it seems zero remote miniature submersible to search from the ship with.

Other than Un-survivable catastrophic implosion - if they are not rescued alive, wonder if there is some final moments recorded on cell phone video or a cabin footage cam.

As crass as it sounds, the idea that there was an operating malfunction caused by a flat blue tooth controller - and then no one thought to ensure the 2 spares were checked and fully charged before the dive would just be typical clown world.

I think they did a great job, thing went down and up multiple times successfully. Sea is fucking deadly tho, bigger and better vessels fell into it.

How many times has it made the trip down exactly, tho ??

All i could find was it being used for 'trips' in 2021 and 2022 - but this - 'In 2022, CBS reporter David Pogue ventured on the Titan to see the Titanic—he had to sign a waiver before diving that said the submersible was “experimental” and “had not been approved by any regulatory body.”

And another where the massive waiver everyone has to sign, mentions death three times on the first page alone.

EDIT: Just read it only makes the dive 2 - 5 times a year during a small brief window of time where the sea/ underwater conditions have to be right = and even then it was mostly unmanned. Kek.

Very "modern," yes. But would I allow myself to be inescapably bolted from the outside into such a pod, with nothing but a toilet and a wireless game controller? No thanks.

Lmao - can you imagine 5 adults squeezed into that space ?/. Sitting on the bottom sea bed - taking a dump in front of each other.

"Rather than address Lochridge’s concerns or undergo corrective action to rectify and ensure the safety of the experimental Titan, or utilize a standard classification agency to inspect the Titan, OceanGate did the exact opposite – they immediately fired Lochridge," the counterclaim states. "OceanGate gave Lochridge approximately 10 minutes to clear out his desk and exit the premises."

From the suit and counter suit after the CEO hired Lochridge in 2018 to check over the submersible for certification.

Plus, a major issue with manned deep sea submersibles is hull integrity after repeated deep dives and how many dives is too many - guess we know now.

I bet the CEO regrets that.

His shareholder esp , hopefully the company just went into the red and they'll all get sued out their ring piece.

... super durable!

The only thing he placed between himself and the everlasting is the reliability of a PS controller. How are so many smart people so unbelievably stupid?
