Interesting. It occurs to me EV batteries share a pattern with the clotshot. Namely, it kills slowly, not all at once. You think you're safe because your car drives normally for a while. Then suddenly, it bursts into flames for no reason. Plus, the government all but mandates this shit.
It may not be a defect, but a feature. Just sayin.
I think tighter dependence on public services (power grid) is the main goal. In any area there are multiple companies competing for your gas business. Your car can fuel up for much longer than an EV can, and you can store a lot of spare gas without it going bad.
EV batteries bursting into flames hampers their plans to convince everyone to drive these things. Sane people are seeing these recent stories and backing away.
