The tech is cool, but this specific take is retarded:

The new chip is effectively 40 times as loud, reaching more than 140 dB even at the lowest end of human hearing, 20 hertz. And that’s good enough to do the job of active noise cancellation.

ANC is useful for sound which isn't a damaging volume. It's worthless for sounds above 85db because causing hearing loss is worse than the obnoxious noise in the first place that is your warning to wear ear protection.

I couldn't get much from that other than that the MEMS devices can now do louder low-frequency.

Interesting tech, for sure. I may obtain some of these for fun and experimentation. I'm wondering how they'd scale up if you used, let's say over a hundred of them ganged together.

My own speakers are Martin Logan ESL and they sound amazing. These sound like they could sound better.
