What, you thought that under paid under skilled street shitters can write good software for mission critical or life-or-limb situations? BTW, this article is from 2019. I can only imagine it has gotten worse sense it was written.

From the post: "The Max softwareーplagued by issues that could keep the planes grounded months longer after U.S. regulators this week revealed a new flawーwas developed at a time Boeing was laying off experienced engineers and pressing suppliers to cut costs.

Increasingly, the iconic American planemaker and its subcontractors have relied on temporary workers making as little as $9 an hour to develop and test software, often from countries lacking a deep background in aerospaceーnotably India."

"engineers"

We have been fortunate to live in a time where we were reasonably assured that competent people piloted aircraft, engineered bridges, and operated nuclear reactors. That time has ended.

Hopefully we can return to it.

Oh sir I am very sorry and I completely understand the fear you must be feeling as your aircraft hurtles towards the ground at a breakneck rate of speed and your impeding death. Have you tried turning it off and back on again?

Please kindly do the needful and revert.

While they were waiting in the "Your call is very important to us" queue, the plane crashed.

Engineers @ $9 an hour. I guess they got exactly what they paid for.

It's OK, the code will be run through rigorous unit tests...

...also written by $9-per-hour coders.

One would think the streetshitters would at least be smart enough to refrain from using products with streetshitter software.

Boeing’s cultivation of Indian companies appeared to pay other dividends. In recent years, it has won several orders for Indian military and commercial aircraft, such as a $22 billion one in January 2017 to supply SpiceJet Ltd. That order included 100 737-Max 8 jets...

You don't need to imagine anymore. We can see what is being reaped

In the software industry we’ve known for well over a decade that outsourcing to India does not pay off in the long run. They are cheap because they are not as good. You get what you pay for.

Yeah, Anyone with half a brain has known that for anything related to tech. Sure. they might have every certification under the sun or a "degree" but they are all mills that have little if any standards. Best not employ them in the first place.
