Everyone needs some help sometimes. This seems like a good idea for RC tech.

"please deposit $5 for continued lifesaving services"

Don't be ridiculous. It will require you to have a subscription, which is VERY difficult to get rid of. The device will approach swimmers that appear to be in distress, and scan them to make sure they are a subscriber, current on all of their vaccinations, and have a high enough social credit score.

Finally, an example of technology being used for good.

So a simple remote controlled vehicle carrying a flotation device is called a robot? Damn, that means I've been building "robots" for 30 years. Remote controlled boats, planes and even duck decoys. It's a neat idea but not exactly a robot. Are drones also robots?

Yea, the oversell is a bit silly. Wonder how many thousands in 'public donations' one of these swallows up.

PS - allegedly from a rc hobby thread its $10 000 per unit. something to do with costing in the certifications on top of an old 2010 manufacture $3500 cost estimate.

"Journalists" are not exactly the brightest most of the time.. Anything that has a motor is basically a robot.
