They are greedy. Manufacturers can be, but most small businesses like to help the local economy and employ neighbors, so I do shop small when I can. Most of my Christmas shopping is done only at locally owned stores. Not big on franchises, but I will shop at a franchise if it’s locally owned. Unfortunately, in my area I don’t have all the stores I need for hobbies, etc. so I do have to order online. I use eBay and Etsy quite a bit, most of them are small stores and I try to limit choices to US vendors. I can’t always do that, but I make the effort.
