I have a huge problem buying a battery from Amazon. The problem is, the battery is not sold directly by Amazon but goes through other vendors. They offer "free shipping" So far so good. I put the battery in my shopping cart. Amazon tries to upsell me to prime, I decline. Then I notice my shopping cart goes to $0.00 and there's a gift card for the exact amount of the purchase so my total is $0.00. I suspect there is some foul play here. So I call Amazon support to find out how to buy the battery normally. They tell me because it's sold by a 3rd party, their shopping cart forces me to agree to prime membership. The problem is I didn't agree to do that. I always declined. The shopping cart never mentions by placing this order for $0.00 I'm agreeing to sign up for prime. To make matters worse, the battery isn’t available directly from Amazon, only 3rd party sellers.
I suspect this happens only for items that are only sold by 3rd party vendors so they can offer "free shipping"
To be clear, I never finished the order. I'm going to source this battery from someone else.
