>sunsets Sunsets are caused by [Rayliegh Scattering](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rayleigh_scattering). Arora Borealis is caused by the interaction of charged particles from the sun with atoms in the upper atmosphere. The light seen are from excited atoms. A totally different beast.
