I speak to myself, providing both a honing feedback loop and re-programming myself. I can't remember where I came across that one, but I swear it really helps you sharpen your ideas to get just the right words to describe a though or idea.
I tend to always speak my ideas in my inner monologue as if I were trying to explain them to someone, so I'm actually explaining to myself. It helps me remember and work out the details. It's like writing software - you can think up a vague design for something but it's important to actually write it out in code and test it to find all the bugs and make sure it is logically sound.
Also, affirmations help you manifest.
I can see by your description that I'm indeed not the only one that does it. The software analogy is perfect.
I only wish I wasn't so loud as when I speak to myself as sometimes I actually speak aloud. Don't worry though, I'm sure it's not mental illness. :)
